Band Display at Catshill Church
John Croxton (Alto Sax.) produced this fantastic display to show what the Bible means to the Blackwell Concert Band. Along with several other local organisations, the band was invited to answer this question to mark the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible. The display was at Christ Church, Catshill.
David Wornham (Euph.) joined forces with John to show off his collection of unusual instruments. Find out more about David's Tuneful Tubes?
Bromsgrove Carnival 2011
Another very successful event for the band, ably and very well organised and
coordinated by our principal flautist, Amanda. We took part in the parade of floats
(shopping trolleys were used) with our design being a ‘Bostin’ Bandstand’ and six
of our talented players played a few pieces along the mile-long walk from the Artrix
arts centre to Sanders Park, accompanied by several other band members handing
out flyers and shaking buckets and collecting tins.

Chairman Kevin did a fantastic
job guiding the trolley to keep it on the road. The procession started with a torrential
downpour but luckily the sun came out for the rest of the parade. Once in the park,
the thirsty workers headed for the refreshments and then helped man the tombola stall
until the rain stopped play.

Most prizes were won and a wonderful total of £233.78
was raised, with proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Support. We look forward to
taking part in 2012. Well done to everyone for their hard work putting the trolley
together and helping out.
